An Official Plan amendment application was submitted to the City of Toronto to add new policies to the City’s Official Plan for the subject site.

The resulting Site and Area Specific Policy (SASP) would permit future mixed-use development, new public streets and parkland. In July 2020, the developer filed appeals to the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT) on the lack of decision by City Council on the official plan amendment application.

The proposed development is located in the Golden Mile Secondary Plan Area, which is anticipated to be redeveloped with significant residential and non- residential growth. The TDSB has identified a need for a new elementary school site within the Secondary Plan area to accommodate future student population. TLC has party status as it has an interest in ensuring that the proposed development does not preclude TLC’s ability to develop a TDSB elementary school serving the Golden Mile area.
